Being fiscally responsible with your personal finances begins with a
mindset. Without it, you can put together a million balanced budgets, they'll
get you nowhere.
New Year’s Day (2014) marked my
ninth year of marital bliss. I can honestly say being married to my lovely wife
Deborah has been one of the most successful achievements of my life. As I think
about marriage and the decision to marry, it’s probably the single biggest leap
of faith there is in life. My decision to join Deborah in Holy matrimony began
way before the public ceremony. It began way before the decision. The decision
to be faithful, in health and in sickness to one individual begins in the
heart. It is a decision, albeit a huge one.
The decision to be fiscally
responsible with your personal finances is also a matter of the heart. It
begins before the first paycheck is deposited into the bank account. It begins
with a change of attitude, an attitude to plan according to God’s principles,
convictions and guidance. It all starts
with God, you and your money.
With this mindset, it’s not about money;
it’s about having a heart to be a good steward of all you’ve been blessed with.
